In the Sacrament of Confirmation, the baptized person is "sealed with the gift of the Holy Spirit" and is strengthened for service to the Body of Christ. The prophets of the Old Testament foretold that God's Spirit would rest upon the Messiah to sustain his mission. Their prophecy was fulfilled when Jesus the Messiah was conceived by the Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary. The Holy Spirit descended on Jesus on the occasion of his baptism by John. Jesus' entire mission occurred in communion with the Spirit. Before he died, Jesus promised that the Spirit would be given to the Apostles and to the entire Church. After his death, he was raised by the Father in the power of the Spirit. Confirmation deepens our baptismal life that calls us to be missionary witnesses of Jesus Christ in our families, neighborhoods, society, and the world. . . . We receive the message of faith in a deeper and more intensive manner with great emphasis given to the person of Jesus Christ, who asked the Father to give the Holy Spirit to the Church for building up the community in loving service. ~from the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults

Teen Confirmation
The high school program is a three year process with the goal of fostering and developing the faith of the youth of St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish and confirming them in the Spirit to be mature adults in the Catholic faith. For teens journeying to prepare for the sacrament of Confirmation, we are opening the door to an encounter with Christ. Throughout this journey, teens will be able to personalize their faith by engaging in discussions on life, faith, and Jesus Christ.
This is a journey that teens will not walk alone. St. Catherine of Alexandria Parish is committed to engaging the entire family in the sacramental preparation process. During this three-year process, teens will be accompanied by their parents, sponsors/godparents, friends and family.
In our new approach to Confirmation preparation, teens will have the opportunity and space to encounter Jesus Christ and fall in love with the Catholic faith.
- The teen must be baptized and provide the certificate of Baptism.
- The teen may start as early as 9th grade to begin formation for the Sacrament. The process takes a minimum of 3 years to be completed during their high school years. Content and dialogue are appropriate for the maturation of 9th thru 12th graders, therefore it is most appropriate for these ages.
